Retrofit and Passivhaus Expertise

Eric is a Certified Passive House Consultant, PHI Retrofit Expert and Trainer, AECB CarbonLite Retrofit Graduate & AECB Standards Certifier, Chartered Water and Environmental Manager and Chartered Environmentalist.

For most of his career, his ‘day job’ mostly involved water supply & sanitation in low-income countries, during which time he helped to co-found BushProof, an award-winning business based in Madagascar. But it was after gaining experience through carrying out a deep retrofit on his own house, that he retrained as a Passive House Consultant to help other homeowners do the same. He does this through ColdProof which provides master planning for retrofit projects – this is not only about technical details of PHPP, thermal bridge or WUFI modelling, but also about all the other related joined-up thinking and coordination that needs to happen with other specialists and contractors to get the project to the point of being able to start.

Eric is passionate about the need for retrofit in the UK, which has been his motivation for helping to develop both the Coaction Passivhaus Tradesperson course and the Retrofit Delivery course.

Investing in the Future of Sustainable Building

We’re committed to addressing climate change and recognize the need for swift action. That’s why we reinvest 10% of our turnover to provide training in Passivhaus building principles for as many builders and site managers as we can. With 26 million homes in the UK in need of retrofitting and a shortage of skilled professionals in the building trades, every step makes a difference.
